Honestly speaking, Web Design is probably one of my weaker fields but that doesn't mean I won’t include it in my portfolio. For my Intro to Web Design class, we had to design a website for a musical band’s album of our choice. Me being the Deftones fans, I immediately jumped at the chance to work with them.
As per Professor Lambert’s style, the process began by gathering information about the band and the album. We had to include all sorts of content, like merchandise, tickets to “live” shows, and even each song with a lyric page. For this project we used Dreamweaver, fortunately I had some previous experience. Before becoming a graphic design major, I was a game and animation designer who worked a lot with coding, Python to be exact. It wasn't all that different but I was no expert, so troubleshooting and assets not doing what they were supposed to kept becoming a pain in the rear. Copy and paste became my best friend during this assignment, as well as learning key
commands, which helped for more efficient coding.
Unfortunately (or fortunately), it was all just make believe. We weren’t actually going to reach out to each band and ask to officialize our websites. Though tedious I learned valuable things through the experience, such as the inspect tool on the Chrome browser, used responsibly of course.
