As a passionate Mustang lover, my very own beast tends to be the subject of many small works I do. However, this digital painting for my Advanced Art Studio class resonates with me. In this class we create 5 portfolio worthy pieces about a personal subject, and so it's no surprise this painting finds itself here.
The subject I chose was my 2007 Ford Mustang California Special (4.6L V8 by the way). The first piece was a digital painting made in MediBang Pro and then printed on a 24x36 poster. My girlfriend helped me take great pictures for the reference photos, so shout out to her! Secondly was a poster design, I just wanted something to hang on the wall of my future house. I took a picture of my mustang in El Dorado square, imported it into Illustrator, and built all the elements there. Next, a magazine spread showcasing my layout and visual skills. The layout is based on a real car magazine called Mustang Monthly, but with a more modern and aggressive twist. After this came the logo redesign, the current CS/GT logo doesn’t quite captivate the aggressive attitude of my mustang in particular. I used photoshop and illustrator to create this macho logo though it could use some TLC. Lastly, I did a hands-on project by creating a detailed drawing of the beast using micron pens. This one had to be my most meticulous project in the series, but it was fun and worthwhile in the end.
