Dilmah Tea Can Design

Tea is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, it’s also just a good way to relieve stress. Which is where this "mellow" design of mine came from.

During my package design class, we were assigned a real world tea brand to create a mock can design. My given brand was Sri Lanka’s very own Dilmah, a brand that prides itself on cultivating, harvesting, and brewing pure Ceylon tea leaves. For this concept, I wanted to achieve a calm design. The chosen color palette is cool and mellow which depicts tea’s sense of relaxation. Design elements such as the blueberries and rosemarys were drawn using micron pens and scanned into photoshop for editing. This is a style of work I really enjoy doing, putting my drawing skills to use is one of my strengths. The yellow shapes were digitally drawn and are there to represent a traditional Sri Lankan pattern since the tea brand is considered a national treasure.

Overall, this design brings out my attention to color as well as my technical capabilities. From drawing each design element to choosing a fitting color palette, the project helped elevate my design skills.
