Growing Tree

During this project I was in my Advanced Communication Design class. My classmates and I were tasked with creating a new logo concept for a local pre-school. The pre-school in question is called The Growing Tree Academy and the entire class worked alongside owners; Sandy, Ashleigh, and Jeffery Sumner. Since they wanted elements of Christianity and some earthly vibes in the design.

I worked with Christian symbols such as a cross and Ichthys (the fish symbol) in illustrator to create both a logo as well as a street sign and vinyl car magnet. What resulted was a winning design out of 6 potential choices. The design itself included a predominantly cool color scheme with blue and green as well as some touches of yellow, with a rounded typeface to complement the childlike vibes of a pre-school. The logo itself is a tree with Christian symbolism, the trunk is a brown cross and the leaves are meant to be childrens painted handprints, as for the Ichthys is seen as two abstract children beneath the tree.

Being a Christian myself gave me the confidence of understanding the clients needs and producing one of my best works for a real client. Despite facing strong competition and even my own girlfriend, I remained calm and confident.
